Agricultural Sustainability: Vermont's rural identity is a cornerstone of our state's uniqueness. I am committed to supporting a flourishing agricultural economy that prioritizes sustainable practices. This includes creating access to non-toxic, nutritious food for all Vermonters and ensuring land access for young and beginning farmers. We can maintain our agricultural heritage and promote food security by fostering a new generation of land stewards and supporting agrarian enterprises.
Affordable Housing and Healthcare: Ensuring that every Vermonter has a secure place to call home and access affordable medical care is essential to my campaign. I will work towards policies that make housing and healthcare affordable and accessible to all residents, addressing one of the fundamental needs for a stable and healthy community.
Environmental Stewardship: Protecting our environment for future generations is a core principle of my candidacy. I advocate for a just transition to a green economy, which involves investing in renewable energy and public transportation, creating green jobs, and ensuring that our transition to sustainability is fair and equitable for all. This means we will not leave behind workers in traditional industries, but rather provide them with the necessary training and support to thrive in the new green economy. I will work to improve our built and natural infrastructure to reduce the impacts of climate change, like the severe flooding we have seen now two years in a row.
Social Justice: I am committed to addressing systemic issues such as racism, sexism, and discrimination against low-income individuals and minority groups. As a staunch supporter of women’s reproductive rights, I believe in bodily autonomy for everyone. My policies will aim to create an inclusive and equitable Vermont where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.
Economic Equity: I will work to protect small businesses and farmers from the predatory practices of large corporations and challenge the accumulation of vast wealth through labor exploitation. By advocating for fair taxation and supporting local economies, we can ensure that economic growth benefits all Vermonters. Promoting a circular economy will be central to my policy efforts. I will support initiatives that encourage recycling, waste reduction, and the sustainable use of resources. Incentivizing the reuse and repurposing of materials and the right to repair can reduce environmental impact and create green jobs. I will advocate for legislation promoting product design focused on durability, repairability, and recyclability, and I will also support local businesses that contribute to a circular economy.
Community Engagement and Transparency: I guarantee community members' voices are heard and valued in government decisions. Promoting active participation, inclusion, and transparency in government is essential for a healthy democracy. I envision a Vermont where government is truly of the people, by the people, and for the people.
